Captivity

We originally had a number of them and we got out of them. We have recently purchased some more and will see what happens.
They are quiet and timid but a very bright and pretty bird in any mutation.
In the past they have bred well for us with the young coming out as reasonably quiet and steady birds. Once they go through their first molt the red chest feathers of the cock bird will be recognisable. However in other mutations the cocks do not necessarily have red chest feathers such as the blue mutation.
We were told when we purchased our first scarlets, wait until the young colour up before selling them or moving them around as the young stress very easily. We actually do try to adhere to this as much as possible with all our young birds.
