Occurs in the South East of Australia from far South Western NSW to Mt Lofty Ranges and Kangaroo Island in SA and in South Western WA from approx. Esperence to Perth.

Elegants are quite tame, quiet and unobtrusive foraging for grass seeds. Usually found in pairs or small parties.

Breeding occurs from August to January.

Captivity :

You enter the cage and these birds take a delight in dive bombing your head to hunt you out of their space.It is also advisable to keep them with there own kind and not mixed with other neophema's as there have been reports of them injuring other parrots with there div bombing antics .
They are quiet, unobtrusive and private.
